The St. Louis Psychological Association (SLPA) welcomes interest from professionals and students in the field of psychology and related disciplines.
Benefits of SLPA membership include:
- Opportunities to network with other professionals in the St. Louis community and region;
- Professional programs to explore current psychological topics and earn continuing education (CE) credits;
- Newsletters to provide a medium for communicating personal, organizational, and political news and views about our profession, and
- Social events such as parties held in members' homes.
SLPA has four types of membership:
Full Member: Psychologists who are full members of the American Psychological Association, the Missouri Psychological Association, the Illinois Psychological Association, or who hold licenses to practice psychology in the states of Missouri or Illinois are eligible for membership in SLPA.
Affiliate Member: Any person who has a professional interest in psychology may apply for affiliate membership in SLPA. An affiliate member typically has a graduate degree in a subject related to mental health.
Student Member: Students who are enrolled in programs that are primarily psychological in nature are eligible for student membership in SLPA.
Retired Member: Anyone who has previously been a full member of SLPA may change to retired status if he or she is over 60 years old and has completely retired from psychology-related employment. This includes clinical, teaching, research and all other types of psychology-related employment. Any part-time work of a psychological nature, regardless of frequency or number of hours, excludes a person from this category of membership.
