Reconnecting the Mind to the Body: The Adverse Childhood Experiences Study

John Thomas Paruch, MD, will present on how to evaluate and treat the “whole person,” incorporating a team-based approach of lifestyle change into the process of health delivery - ideally helping people move from chronic disease toward wellness. Through his clinical experience, Dr. Paruch discovered that there was often something wrong with the traditional medical approach and noticed a pattern of patients reporting significant physical and emotional complaints that were not responding to traditional treatments. The focus of his presentation will outline the important connection between childhood adversity and long-term well-being.

Dr. Paruch is a dual-trained physician in Internal Medicine and Psychiatry, with clinical skill sets and competencies in each respective field. He currently practices with BJC HealthCare and is an adjunct Assistant Clinical Preceptor with A. T. Still University. He has his MD from St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University.
